Maximize your eyes using volumizing mascara
Are you getting the most out of your volumizing mascara? There's more to it than meets the eye!
Choose your drama
It's not as simple as it might seem. If you want dramatic, voluminous lashes, you have to ask yourself a question first: "What look am I going for today?"
I want intense voluminous lashes
Mascara serves to accentuate our beautiful eyes, and the more intense the mascara, the more our eyes stand out. Lancôme's Grandiôse Extrême has been developed to lengthen and lift the lashes with an intense dark black that gives brighter-looking eyes.
I want to control the volume
If you like to be able to control the level of volume down to the very last lash, the Hypnôse mascara is the answer. The fiber sensor bristles on the brush ensure that every single lash, even the smallest ones, is evenly sheathed in color from root to tip in one sweep. Control the volume with customizable layering, clump-free thanks to the mascara's smooth waxes.
For added intensity, try the Hypnôse Drama mascara which gives instant, customizable volume with its convex, oversized brush and intense black pigmentation.
I want doll-like voluminous lashes
Wide-looking eyes bring radiance and effortless femininity to the face. For lashes that are long, separated and almost doll-like, Hypnôse Doll Eyes provides intense volume and defined separation. Unveiled in 2011, it an icon among women thanks to its brush with nylon bristles.
Volume-boosting techniques: step-by-step
You've chosen the perfect volumizing mascara, but now it's time to make sure you're following the right steps, otherwise you'll miss out on all the benefits of your volumizing mascara.
Step 1: Prepare your eyes
Ensure you start with the brightest, healthiest-looking eyes by using an eye cream in your daily skincare routine. Use gentle patting/tapping movements with your fingertip to ensure complete absorption. This will firm the skin around your eyes and bring a glow to your expression. Remember to always be careful when applying products around the eye area.
Step 2: Ready those lashes
You can give your lashes a natural curl even before you apply mascara by using a warmed-up eyelash curler. Don't press too hard otherwise you risk over-curling and/or damaging the lashes. For a maximum volume, apply Lancôme's Cils Booster XL, a primer for your lashes.
Step 3: Application
Starting at the roots of your lashes, use gentle zig-zagging motions to glide the mascara brush up through the lashes to ensure full coverage and prevent clumping. Apply a second coat if you want even more volume, using the same zig-zag movement.

Tricks on using make-up with your volumizing mascara
For a hypnotic gaze
To make sure your eyes really draw people in (only letting them go when you decide!), a black kohl eyeliner such as Lancôme's Crayon Khôl is your secret make-up weapon. Before applying your mascara, gently drag the kohl pencil across the top lash line, then underneath the lower lashes, starting at the inner corner and moving outwards. Simple, but oh so effective!
For mesmerizing eyes
There's nothing more dramatic than a classic smoky eye, which perfectly flatters intense, voluminous lashes. Using one or more dark shades that flatter your skin tone, subtly blend the color(s) outwards and upwards, increasing the intensity to your preferred level. The Lancôme Color Design 5 Pan Eyeshadow collection has combinations of shades that suit every woman.
For a larger-than-life look
For eyes that really pop, pair your volumizing mascara with a white, or cream, eyeshadow, subtly blended in the corners of your eyes (apply mascara after). Our recommendation is Color Design Sensational Effects Eye Shadow Smooth Hold by Lancôme in shimmery Drape. This quick trick gives the impression of wider-looking eyes, playing with where the light hits your face.
For a flirtatious flutter
If you are looking for a flirty and fun make-up look, the cat eye is a beauty classic. Before applying your volumizing mascara, use a liquid liner like the Grandiôse liner in jet black to create a line that flicks up gradually at the end of the lash line so that it looks like it's pointing to the tip of your eyebrow. Build up the thickness of the line according to your desired look, and don't be afraid to be bold!
